DEBORAH MITCHELL

Deborah Mitchell Deborah Mitchell is a full-time freelance writer who in 2004 moved back to the state of her birth, New Jersey, after spending fifteen years in Tucson, Arizona. Mitchell has authored, coauthored, or ghostwritten more than thirty books, all with major publishers, and written scores of print and online articles for both consumer and professional audiences on topics of health, nutrition, alternative/complementary medicine, and mainstream medicine, with occasional pieces on environmental issues. Since 1988, Mitchell has been a freelance copyeditor for Associated University Presses, and since 1992, has written articles for the newsletter of a nonprofit vegetarian group.

Although spending time in front of a computer has its rewards, so does breaking away, and Deborah Mitchell has served on the board and or volunteered for various nonprofit organizations, including a hospice, a no-kill cat shelter, a food cooperative, a group that serves low-income and homeless individuals, a soup kitchen, an adult literacy group, and a recycling education group.

When she wants to relax, Deborah Mitchell practices tai chi, writes poetry, and enjoys walking and listening to jazz. She resides in Princeton with her husband and their cat, Antonio Carlos Jobim.
